If you've completed your LLB and passed the Law GAT, you're just a few steps away from becoming a licensed advocate in Sindh. Here's a clear breakdown of the entire enrollment process, from your first intimation to your final license, so you know exactly what to expect.
Step 1: First Intimation (Starting Your Internship)
This is the official start of your journey toward becoming a lawyer. First intimation is your way of informing the Sindh Bar Council (SBC) that you’ve begun your six-month internship under a licensed senior advocate.
✅ Information Required:
You don’t need to submit any documents at this stage, just keep the following information ready to fill in the online form:
Your personal details
Law GAT score
Details of your senior (the lawyer you'll be interning with), including their name, CNIC, enrollment number, and contact details
🔄 Process:
Go to the SBC Advocate Portal
Create an account
Click on "File your first intimation"
Fill in the required information
Pay the fee (approx. PKR 15,000, subject to change)
Once paid, you'll receive a receipt on the portal with your official internship end date
✅ What’s next? Complete your 6-month internship under your senior as per the date mentioned in the receipt.
Step 2: Second Intimation (Applying for Your License)
After completing your internship, it's time to officially apply for your license.
✅ Documents Required:
Form A – Application for enrollment
Attested copies of all educational documents (Matric to LLB)
Law GAT Result
Certificate of Bar Vocational Course
Form B – Certificate of training from your senior
A list of 10 cases you assisted in during your internship
An undertaking that you'll become a member of Karachi Bar Association (KBA) within one month of getting your license
Two character certificates issued by two different senior advocates (not your supervising senior)
Affidavit confirming no criminal proceedings against you
🔄 Process:
While there is an online form, the real process involves physical submission of documents
Collect and organize all the required documents
Get your educational documents attested
Collect forms and certificates from your supervising senior
Prepare the affidavit and character certificates
Visit the Sindh Bar Council office at the High Court and submit your documents in person
✅ Important Notes:
The SEE Law requirement has now been waived, so you no longer need to submit that result
Always double-check the current fee and requirements on the official SBC website or by visiting the office
Keep copies of everything for your own record
Be sure to apply for KBA membership within one month of getting your license, this is mandatory. (For a step-by-step guide on how to apply for KBA membership, refer to this post)
📎 Downloadable Documents & Forms
📝 You can find downloadable formats of all these forms below in the “Downloadable Documents & Forms” section.
Step 3: Interview & Final Approval
Once you’ve submitted your documents under the second intimation, your application moves into the review stage. This is followed by an interview, which is an essential part of the enrollment process.
🔎 What to Expect:
The Sindh Bar Council holds interviews in rounds every few months.
Based on when you submitted your application, you'll be called for an interview when the next round is scheduled.
During the interview, the panel may ask you:
Questions related to Pakistani laws
Questions about your internship experience
Specific questions based on the list of 10 cases you submitted, so be sure you’re familiar with those
🎓 What Happens After the Interview?
Once you successfully clear the interview (don’t worry, you will!), you’ll be granted your Certificate of Enrollment and issued your Advocate’s Card.
✅ This officially makes you a licensed lawyer, ready to practice and apply for KBA membership.
